Connect at Catalyst Inc was proud to announce Mr John Rainey MBE as its Innovation Founder for 2018. The twelve finalists gathered together for the annual Innovation Founders lunch, organised by Headline Sponsor Bank of Ireland UK.
John Rainey, founder of the award winning, internationally recognised Denroy Group, is the ninth Innovation Founder to be acknowledged. The lunch took place at the Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast and provided the opportunity for John to share his business story, including key milestones in the history of the Denroy Group, with the twelve entrepreneurs in the room.
With an annual turnover of £20 million and an employee count of 220, the Bangor based business has been moulding plastics for international markets since 1972. The achievements by the company led to a lively discussion as John was able to share his broad experience with the finalists. They were also keen to hear about John’s journey as an entrepreneur and to ask for his advice on the early stages of building a company.
Invent Programme Manager, Kerry McGarvey, said “The Innovation Founder lunch is always an inspiring event in the run up to the Awards Night. This year’s event provided the perfect opportunity for the finalists to build anticipation ahead of the Final in October. We hope that by hearing John’s story the finalists can aspire to the success of the Denroy Group and everything it has achieved from its base in Northern Ireland”.
